Santa Elena Canyon - Big Bend National Park, Texas. Santa Elena Canyon is located in the southwest corner of the park. The central portions of the park are called Sunken Block by geologists. This refers to the offsetting of rock layers due to movement along fault lines. Here, at the mouth of Santa Elena Canyon, the fault at the western edge of the Sunken Block is quite clear.
